Privacy policy
No accounts and no sign-up. This page explains what happens to the link you paste, what our server sees, and how Google Analytics and Google AdSense use cookies on this site.

Who we are
PinDownloader ("we", "us") runs the website at pindownloader.dev. We are responsible for the personal data described on this page. You can reach us at [email protected].
What reaches our server
When you look up a pin, our server (a Cloudflare Worker) receives:
- The pin link you paste. It's used to read that pin's public page and nothing else.
- Your IP address and basic request details such as browser type and time. Every website receives these; they're needed to deliver the response.
When you download a file, the server also receives the address of that file on Pinterest's media servers.
We never ask for your name, email address, or Pinterest account, because none of it is needed.
What we keep
Pin links and files: not stored. Lookups are handled in memory and the result is sent straight back to your browser. Downloaded files are streamed from Pinterest through our proxy as they arrive; they aren't saved to disk or storage, and we keep no download history.
Operational logs: short-lived. Our hosting provider may keep brief technical logs (for example, errors and request metadata) to keep the service running and to stop abuse.
Your theme choice: on your device only. Light or dark mode is saved in your browser's localStorage and never sent to us.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a service from Google, to understand how the site is used: which pages are visited, how people arrive, which features they use, and roughly where and on what kind of device. It helps us fix problems and decide what to improve.
- Google Analytics uses cookies such as
_gaand_ga_<ID>to tell visits apart. They expire after up to two years. - Google receives your IP address to estimate your general location. Google says Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses.
- Google Analytics records the address of each page you view. The pin links you paste into the box are not sent to it, unless the link is part of the page address, as in shared links that start with
/?url=. - We keep Google Analytics data for no more than 14 months and don't use it to identify you.
Google explains how it handles this data in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can block Google Analytics on every site with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
PinDownloader is free because it shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance, and prevent fraud.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or to other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- Other ad technology providers and ad networks may also serve ads here and use their own cookies. Where a consent message is shown, it lists them.
You can opt out of personalized advertising:
- for Google, in Google's Ads Settings;
- for many other vendors, at www.aboutads.info, or at www.youronlinechoices.eu if you're in Europe.
If you opt out, you'll still see ads, but they won't be based on your interests. Google describes its advertising cookies in How Google uses cookies in advertising.
Your cookie choices
In the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before analytics or advertising cookies are used. The consent message is provided by Google, a certified consent management platform. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with the Privacy and cookie settings link at the bottom of the page. If you decline, you may still see non-personalized ads, which can use cookies only where the law allows it, for example to limit how often an ad is shown or to prevent fraud.
In US states with privacy laws, showing ads based on your activity on other sites can count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information. You can opt out with the Do not sell or share my personal information link shown to visitors in those states, or by turning off personalized ads in Google's Ads Settings.
Everywhere, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The downloader keeps working without them.
Who else is involved
Cloudflare hosts this website and our Worker and processes requests on our behalf as an infrastructure provider. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Google provides Google Analytics and Google AdSense, described above. See Google's privacy policy.
Pinterest is where the media comes from. Two details matter here:
- Downloads go through our proxy. When you select Download, our server fetches the file from Pinterest, so Pinterest sees our server rather than your device.
- Previews load directly from Pinterest. The preview image, the video you play in the result card, and files you open with the open-in-new-tab button are loaded by your browser straight from Pinterest's media servers (
i.pinimg.comandv1.pinimg.com). For preview images and opened files we ask your browser not to send the address of this page, but Pinterest does receive your IP address for those requests.
Our fonts are served from this site, not from a third party.
Legal bases
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- legitimate interests to run the downloader, keep it secure, and reply to your emails;
- your consent for analytics and advertising cookies and for personalized ads, where consent is required. You can withdraw it at any time.
International transfers
Cloudflare and Google may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. They rely on recognized safeguards for these transfers, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
If you contact us by email, your address, message, and anything you include are handled by your email provider and ours. We keep that correspondence only as long as needed to reply, look into a report, or meet legal obligations. Please don't send passwords or unnecessary sensitive details.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you, or get a copy of it;
- have it corrected or deleted;
- object to or restrict how we use it;
- withdraw consent you have given;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
We have no accounts or profiles, so we usually hold very little about you. Cookie data is held by Google; the tools above let you control it directly. For anything else, email [email protected]. We'll respond within the time required by law, and we won't treat you differently for using your rights.
Children
PinDownloader is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the date at the top of the page will change too.
